School?

This past fall, I had started a gentle preschool curriculum with Million.  He learned a lot, but it didn't fit me.

So we're winging it for now until we're actually "required" to do school.  He does so much better with nonfiction books and facts than he did trying to glean facts and concepts out of fiction books.  Of course, we still we read plenty of fiction---just not as a part of our dedicated "school time."

"School" today: art project with yarn, building with blocks, playing piano, reading about ringed seals and jaguars, discovering that some classical art pieces are nude, Medusa, Bacchus, fermentation of wine, studying the process of candle making, The Grouchy Ladybug, what is a seed? what does wisteria look like?  studying Interior of a Ropewalk by Charles Bird King, perspective on whether or not Mona Lisa's smile is in her mouth or her eyes.  Then we had a 15-minute "quiet time" exercise followed by a nap.

This evening, while Michael goes out for a guy's night, Million will likely help me make one pillar candle.  And then we'll read about the demise of Veruca Salt. Just because it's fun.
